It’s fine. I was never going to upload this anyway. I’ve been trying to upload some more strips there, but they have taken A YEAR to be so much as qued.
Hop you don’t mind that I uploaded this here. Guess I should’ve asked first. ^^;;
@cwiis
What is your major malfunction, soldier? Seriously, why hate on SRoMG? If it’s because you don’t find it funny, I can’t help that.
Well, this is Derpibooru, where just seeing this Luna makes us understand why this is funny. But SRoMG is for a more general audience, and not all of them would be familiar with the joke.
so fix it
Also, it’s “Garfunkel”. As in Art.
I don’t know, I felt some of the ‘90s strips were pretty good to. I kinda lost track of the series though, and just look at it from time to time in the newspaper. (One interesting twist they have in recent years is Jon & Liz the vet’ are actually a BF & GF couple now.)
Funny thing is, back in the earlier days Garfield was considered quite “edgy,” and even got complaints from some readers. (Like when Garfield once said “Mondays sucked” yes, he actually said that) He also said things before like he likes the movie “Old Yeller,” because he likes movies with a “happy ending.” (Now that’s hilariously cruel.)
Nowadays with stuff like “Family Guy” around, and such Garfield seems very tame in comparison. I think that’s why most critics aren’t to into Garfield anymore, but it’s still apparently doing well.
Still, the CGI-TV series “The Garfield Show” doesn’t seem quite the same as “Garfield & Friends” to me. (Especially, with his original voice Lorenzo Music passed on sadly.)
I think the strip was quite good until sometime in the mid to late ‘80s; since then, for me anyway, there’ve been more misses than hits. But the TV specials were almost always good, and as you noted “Garfield and Friends” was one of the better cartoons of its era.
I still like Garfield personally. I actually watched “Garfield & Friends” on DVD, (the old ’80s/‘90s show) and it’s surprisingly well-written, and Garfield gets away with alot of cynical remarks, and such for a kid show at the time.
Sometimes I like to peek at my old Garfield, Far Side, and Calvin & Hobbes books to.
(Ah, it was great being a ‘90s kid.)
@rafasilva
I hear back then alot of cars got broken into just to steal those suction-cup Garfield dolls. (Like gang-members would give them to their girlfriends, and stuff.) Hilariously, many cases of that they left more valuable items in the car, (like wallets, money, and stuff) and just took the suction-cup Garfield dolls.
Jim Davis (creator of Garfield) when asked if he had one of those “stuck-up” Garfield dolls, he stated, “No, I didn’t want my car broken into.”
@K_A
Or do like “Garfield Minus Garfield?” (Which even Jim Davis is a fan of.)
you can just stop right there
Aww, i was gonna upload the one I did. I think it was on Ponibooru, too.
back in the 80’s, when it was cool having one of those dolls on your car’s window.
at one time in our lives, we loved Garfield
i know i did
