GOD BLESS IRELAND AND AMERICA (USA).
Sincerely the Irihman (2016).
Excuse me sir or madam but I would have to disagree with you on the south winning the Civil War (Even though I’m Irish and from Ireland)and the world being a better place, but I do respect that you are very patriotic same as I as an Irish patriot and nationalist but here’s a fact, you know Robert E Lee (Head of the southern army) he was completely against racism and slavery and said it was wrong for the south states of America to leave the union, even though you may ask on why he fought for the south,he didn’t want to go against his native state of Virginia (sorry if I spelled it wrong) and Lincoln warned that if Britain or France went to war against the United States, well let’s just say there.will.be.hell.to.pay,as a conclusion it is wrong for you that the America should be divided and here’s a quote for your confederate bullshite “United we stand, divided we fall” and now feck off to your little racist country and fuck off to history books because as An Irishman I will fight for the union because all men are created equal, amen and God Bless America!
No. Uniforms are cute on ponies, and anime girls, no matter what uniform they are.
Osceola, Missouri,
Order number 11,
Sherman’s march to the sea.
The shelling of Vicksburg.
Camp Douglas,
the list goes on and on.
…better, with the United States split in two?
Sorry pal, but I used to live in the South. That shit doesn’t fly.
Well that’s not technically true the Confeds had the chance to chase the retreating Federales from Manassas all the way up to Washington, and possibly capture Lincoln as he sat there in the White House. But I guess no One at the time thought that, that was even possible. Had they done that though. History would have been completely different to what we know today. And IMHO better for it.
A) Outta Lincolns depth. Only Congress has the right to enact laws
B) That this was a “Law” made by, to rule over what was in all-tens-and-purpose a Sovereign Nation
The Emancipation Proclamation only served One purpose and that was to keep Europe (The UK, and France from helping the South.)
The South is guilty of many things the KKK especially, but that was more born out the outcome of that war then, ’cause of it.
Ask yourself this the next time you either hear, or worse yet use the Phrase “Lincoln freed the Slaves”… Why did it then take over a 100 Years to truly finalize the rights of all Citizens, not just that of the Whites?
‘cause Lincoln didn’t so much as give a sh– about the Slaves. He only used that “issue” as a Chess piece on the board to keep the British from joining up with the South. Which no matter how distasteful I find that as a Southerner, was probably for the best.
But, why let these facts get in the way of a good story eh?
On that, we can certainly agree. And don’t worry–I don’t ever push for an agenda or cause of any sort without being read up on it.
oh….. your better read than most , well we have nothing to disagree on then I wouldn’t want slavery to exist even at the cost of lose of states rights. Its just I feel the freeing them was all done wrong, slavery seemed to be on its way out and pushing it just hurt everyone .
It’s true that they weren’t in the majority (though the common people generally supported it), and of course trading in new slaves was outlawed decades earlier, merely keeping those already there. Yes, furthermore, they were supported by the native chiefs–but that still doesn’t make it right.
The war may have been mostly fought for economic reasons from the higher-ups’ point of view, as well, but it was generally a moral crusade in the opinion of the world.
I will concede, however, that removing slavery all at once was a terrible idea–it toppled an entire economy. Instead, it should have been slowly phased out in some way, shape, or form. (Incidentally, had Lincoln had his way, the South would have gotten off much more leniently.) Also that the right of secession itself was a moral gray area, given the Revolutionary War. But supporting a system that depends on literal enslavement is clearly bad. As for Dickens, he came back after the War and found things much improved now that the slaves were free.
I don’t want to debate that on here but, do you know how many southerners actually owned slave? slaves might I add sold to them by Yankee merchants who bought them from their own people who enslaved and killed each other to the present day.
Nope, probably not. You could ask the Africans who were beaten down and whipped into submission.
clap, clap, clap, oohh good one really! that was a sharp retort hurt and made you seem superior all in the same moment. But does might make right?
Look how that ended last time.
dems fighting words
So was the Union industrial slavery and taxs shure “northern workers were free, free to starve” Quote: Charles Dickens.
Oh, but they practice slavery at Sweet Apple Acres. Don’t you remember the sheep? “You could have just asked…”
