Oh, yeah, I can see that too (Andy: “Hmm, that’s an episode? Let me hang this Chekhov’s gun on the wall of this panel…”), and the way he answered somewhat aloofly suggests that’s they knew what the deal is in S4E04.
I think that’s going to end up being the other way around, though; remember that by this point in the comic production schedule, they would have had access to at least the draft versions of most of S4, so they already knew there was going to be a DD episode and who the author of the stories is. I think it’s a great idea to have that kind of interaction between the show and the comics, where there may not be big story arc crossover, but details like that get presented in both as a connecting device.
Rarity’s Micro is definitely one of the better MLP comics out there. Even arguably the best one so far.
But everything else from Katie and Andy strikes me as… average. Fun, but average. I’m a little surprised that so many fans praise their work, even though I think the other writers do a better job at telling stories.
Let’s talk about S4E04, then… :) (though yet to be proven out)
No, if something from the comics got through into canon, especially if it involves the mane six or the CMC, I think I’d beat jnx to Hasbro’s door, and I’d be far better armed.

There was another artist (Tsitra360, I believe) that talked about how the approval process took a really long time and mentioned Hasbro by name.

Was Hasbro actually involved in any of that, though? I thought they just leased the T-shirt license to WLF with a list of S&P and let them do the rest of the work.
My point exactly, and I’m glad I’m not the only one that enjoyed Rarity’s Micro immensely.
This, mostly. Good, but people would scream their heads off if the stuff in the comics were in the show.
I love Katie Cook and Andy Price’s MLP comics, but I still think that they’re overrated by the fans.
Aside from the epic Micro Series #3, I feel as though Katie and Andy focus more on random gags and pop cultural references than they do on writing interesting stories.
Wwll their SFW material, obviously. But Atryl is one that comes to mind. Hasbro does research in artists and there’s no way they didn’t see his “other” work when they approved his We Love Fine contract.

Can you get them to add some kinky CMC action into the next comic? Luna and Spike are both terrible ponies and I don’t think I can get off to them.
