Except Applejack didn’t know anything about the bullying until after the CMC had to save Babs from the booby-trapped float. Babs effectively bullied the CMC into hiding the situation from any other pony who could’ve intervened.

My problem with Applejack’s actions have less to do with her forgiving Babs and more to do with how little she seemed to care about the whole thing. In any other situation, if anyone was picking on Apple Bloom with the severity Babs was, Applejack would NOT stand for it. She is, at day’s end, a rough cut homegrown country girl, and speaking from experience, family means a LOT to people like that. Applejack should have explained and forgiven Babs AFTER stopping her cold, and the Applejack we see in other episodes would not have let it get that far.

If it were one fan, no, it wouldn’t bother me. What, you think you’re alone in wanting mundane bullying repaid with physical violence, or in equating trying to understand someone’s motivations with excusing their actions, or in thinking forgiveness or mercy are mistakes? I suspect those are majority opinions in the fandom, actually.

Granted, knowing how Babs’ introductory episode went, I’m sure Applejack would be more than happy to kick in Fluttershy’s teeth to help Babs out with her bullying issue. Babs has a Freudian excuse, see.
