This is my entry to the “Pony Baking Contest” on Equestria Daily. With the cake, I tried to use each pony’s cupcake to display their unique personality and talents.
Applejack: Her hat is actually LEGO, and the tree and basket are Playmobil, but each of those little apples was handmade from marzipan. With her cake, I tried to display her love of the outdoors and apples. Mostly apples.
Pinkie Pie: Her cake is frosted like, well, a cake to demonstrate her fourth wall awareness and sense of humor. The balloons, cake and hat belong to my Calico Critters. Each of the pink flowers was chosen from a mixed selection of colors by hand; a tedious job, but well worth the effort.
Rainbow Dash: Her cyan cupcake is covered in tiny blue sugar crystals to make it look like the sky. The flag is there to display her love of racing. The handmade marzipan clouds have little edible “pearls” stuck into them to give them a silver lining.
Fluttershy: Her cupcake is made to be a welcoming meadow covered in little blue and white flowers, which, like Pinkie’s, were selected by hand from a mix. Fluttershy stands, surrounded by her Playmobil animal friends.
Rarity: Her cupcake looks like a stage or a catwalk. The dress rack and perfume bottle were constructed out of wire, though the dress belongs to my Calico Critters. The pink triangles were made of marzipan.
Twilight Sparkle: Her cupcake repeats the themes of sprinkles and rainbows from the base of the cake. The most notable thing about her is of course that she is a custom alicorn model. What is not as instantly notable is that she is made of marzipan. That’s right; you can now eat Twily.
I would like to thank my mother for help mixing the frosting and Studio B for proving this fandom with such a great show. Please take a look at my gallery for more photos of this cake!

>you can now eat Twily.
Can’t have your cake and eat it too.
Almost seems a shame to eat it.
