Horses aren’t exactly ponies… and I doubt they keep them in a submarine! XD  
The point is that this is a purely fictional world, where females can be in a submarine, and they may call the toilet as that.  
They can even make a submarine look like the Queen Elizabeth for all I care… But that would look silly.

Well technically, there are ponies in the Navy.  
The Marine Corps (Department of the Navy) maintains a few horses at Camp Pendleton, California.

While there are female officers just starting to go on submarines there are no American female enlisted personnel currently on submarines. I know this for a fact because that is only just now being changed and it’s something that we wont see until about 2018.
 
As for the rest of the world there might be female enlisted (I know at least 3 or 4 have at least female officers) yet due to the sheer tightness of quarters and lack of any privacy whatsoever onboard. Traditionally no country has had female submarine sailors and that is a change that is only just happening
 
And even if I’m wrong and other countries do have females enlisted personnel, that pony in the picture is an American Navy Sailor, she is wearing an american rank insignia. And there are currently no enlisted female submariners in america’s navy. Which is why I said “If you want to get really technical”
 
As for the door it would not say toilet. People may call it that but the door would most definitely say “Head”

Oh, but you can enlist a woman in a submarine (and would you say it never happened anywhere in the world?), and you can call that a toilet… but there’s no way you’ll have all that room in a submarine.
