It’s a shame that he didn’t stick around for S4. It’s been, by far, our best.

I don’t get how Season 3’s any worse than Seasons 1 and 2. I mean, both of those seasons had some fan-unfavorites and while some may seem universally loved, look around and you’ll find some who’ll disagree. It’s not all black and white.

A lot of the comments in this thread absolutely disgust me. Here we have an excellent artist who has already given tons of great work to the fandom, and you fuckers savage him for criticizing the direction of the show on another site. Some of the commenters even admitted that they liked him and thought he was reasonable, but he didn’t like Season 3, so now you have to deride him as a whining baby.
 
Shit like this doesn’t change anyone’s minds, it just causes them to become entrenched in their positions. If this guy had any second thoughts of perhaps giving S4 a try or just sticking around for the fanart, I’m pretty sure seeing responses such as this would have stamped such inclinations out.

ITT: Artist leaves the fandom forever because they don’t fell the show is declining in quality and thought the movie was crap, people get butthurt over his opinion. Or something.  

Damn, it feels like you guys never watched and loved a TV series or a cartoon. Are you just bandwagoning or something? This guy here is a wannabe animator and sure has some standards and emotional involvement in what he loves. If there’s one thing such people value, it must be the respect of their art. And there, with MLP, we have yet another example of the unsolvable conflicts between creatives and executives.
 
If you wanted to make yourself a career in this industry, you would probably perceive this tension and kind of hopelessness in the face of economical interests. If you don’t feel it, it’s not a mystery that you don’t understand this move.

There’s parts of S3 that I didn’t like, but I liked a hell of a lot more about it than I disliked it.
 
If most folks hated S3, we’d all agree on it and move on to talk about other things.

Boy, after how terrible that last ep was…Well, I might’ve but s3 was already announced, so like every dumb abused DV out there, I came back for more, sweet daddy  
Although there was initial surprise that it was good, after we hit the halfway point I started taking hits again. I was ready to crawl back to the shelter by SAYS, but soldiered on through the Gauntlet, Clint Eastwood style. It was sadly, not worth the effort.

And I probably deserve it, but it just seems to me that an overwhelming amount of the discussion about the show over the past few months (and not just s3, but the first two seasons as well) has been unrelentingly negative. People talking about how this character was beyond annoying, or that moral was screwed up, or the supposed antagonist was actually in the right, yet very little discussion about what they liked about the show.

Not I. A Canterlot Wedding left a bitter aftertaste for me, so I was glad to have another season with the Mane 6 back in the forefront.
 
At this point, I simply treat every season as if it were the last. If I’m wrong, it’s a happy surprise.
