Don’t forget Marxism. Gotta have the ever-oppressed and the ever-oppressor.
Either way, I’m pretty sick of both of them, and the third option usually just chooses the worst from one or the other… politics, government… bleh.
I always saw it as more the other way around. Republicans a lot of times could be logical, but to the point where it is cold and unfeeling.
Liberals I’ve always seen as overly-emotional, but with some good stemming from that.
No problem

Feminists being just as susceptible to skullduggery as anyone else?
My apologies.
I can and did say person throughout my post except there because that was an example. It technically is a caricature of what radical feminists like Andrea Dworkin believe, and made for a good, broad definition of rape to the other, narrower definition of rape.
They honestly don’t believe women can be rapists.
Apparently, they’ve never heard of Joyce McKinney.
“anything sexual a man does to you”…
Really? Can’t say “person”?
True. My point wasn’t to criticise the use of statistics, but to show that they don’t paint the full picture of what they’re being used to prove.
I find it unlikely that the historical definition of rape in japan was broader than the modern one. In fact, I doubt there exists a single nation where that applies.
Just because some statistics are sometimes unreliable, does not mean that all statistics are always meaningless.
I think Penn & Teller did an episode on how statistics can be misleading; you should check it out…
Why did I bring that up? Because “rape” has different meanings depending on the culture (I was once a sociologist, thus I am familiar with societal constructs). Can a man rape his wife? Yes…but up until a few decades ago, the answer was no. Statistically, and even socially to a certain degree, marital rape wasn’t even a thing, and what we now call marital “rape” was regarded as sexual abuse. You couldn’t divorce your partner because they were “raping” you, due to the fact that until recently marriage included the implication that your partner’s body was yours for your sexual gratification.
How does that relate to statistics? Because if we have differing standards of “rape” depending on the region/culture, then how can you measure how “rapey” a region/culture is? If one region defines “rape” as A stranger that comes out of nowhere and drags you into the bushes to have their way with you, and another that defines rape as anything sexual a man does to you, consenting or otherwise, do you really have enough evidence to suggest that the former is less rapey than the latter?
Just because a statistic says something, doesn’t actually represent the truth.
“In the department of economy, an act, a habit, an institution, a law, gives birth not only to an effect, but to a series of effects. Of these effects, the first only is immediate; it manifests itself simultaneously with its cause - it is seen. The others unfold in succession - they are not seen: it is well for us, if they are foreseen. Between a good and a bad economist this constitutes the whole difference: the one takes account only of the visible effect; the other takes account of both the effects which are seen and those which it is necessary to foresee. Now this difference is enormous, for it almost always happens that when the immediate consequence is favourable, the ultimate consequences are fatal, and the converse. Hence it follows that the bad economist pursues a small present good, which will be followed by a great evil to come, while the true economist pursues a great good to come, at the risk of a small present evil” - Frédéric Bastiat
tl;dr: You need to take into account the unseen as well as the seen before reaching a conclusion
Apparently one of his top movies is Blind Beast, which has similar levels of oddball body fetishism. I saw that and it was like “This is like the most romantic and loving and real sex scene I’ve ever seen, in a movie about a blind sculpter who gets his mom to kidnap women for him so he can create macronised molds of their arms and legs to decorate his studio whereupon he abandons them to for the molds, watthafukevendawg!” That ties into Laughing Vampire because the little vampire kid fetishises eyes to a similar level.
I’m wondering what’s going to happen now, because I just reminded them of the fact that Japan has one of the lowest statistics for rape in comparison to other countries (a woman is ten times LESS likely to be raped there than in the U.S.), despite the fact that they churn out some of the most violent and depraved pornographic material imaginable.
Urotsukidōji, Mai-Chan’s Daily Life, Tumbling Doll of Flesh… And meanwhile, their rape statistics have actually been decreasing over the years - becoming even lower than they were before such titles were created.
I guess the media isn’t as influential as they thought, otherwise Japan would make Columbia look like Disneyland.
Basic human rights apply to the whole of humanity, regardless of where they live.
Also, regardless of “freedom of speech”, no person has any right to stifle another human being on the grounds of what they personally find offensive, and it sure as hell isn’t justification for the rampant vulgarity, insults, and even death threats that are casually being thrown around by DWM supporters in response to even the most polite criticisms.
I had considered myself a feminist before joining tumblr. However, when I found myself opposing others using that label simply for understanding the difference between fantasy and reality, I was subjected to harassment the likes of which I have never experienced from any male. I play online FPS games, and my entire life, I have had an abnormally large bust size. I have had my fair share of derisive commentary from males. However, I am also aware that such people do not represent all men, the same way that a small percentage of ANY group does not reflect the beliefs and practices of an entire group.
I have been a horror fan all my life, and have dealt with my fair share of defending a genre of cinema from those who would believe that the media is at fault for society’s ills. Entertainment, in any form, is not a guidebook for damning oneself. It is a form of expression, and that includes releasing thoughts and feelings that simply cannot be expressed in real life without dire consequences. All art serves as a valuable pressure valve for releasing one’s inner demons onto a page or screen instead of another person.
Your feelings are you own, just as other’s feelings are THEIR own.
Just because you cannot dissociate fantasy from reality, and control your own feelings and emotions, it is not society’s job to control them FOR you.
Human rights.
Irrelevant Question due to first answer.
Right to speech is a human right, and transcends all governmental boundaries.
Conclusion: Go away, troll.
Follow Up Question: When did this country gain authority over the entire internet?
Second Follow Up Question: You guys do realize that rights like Free Speech only protect you from government censorship, right? If the government isn’t involved, Free Speech is irrelevant.
Nah. Best to just let them be, and let them think they’ve accomplished something. :I
Maybe we should sing “Cry me a river~” at them
It’s funny that now, Derpy is more popular than ever, is coming out with more merch, and the name is even trademarked now (likely for future use). Guess THAT little hissy fit didn’t really work out for them either. :I
Yea, Yammers is a true fanatic in every definition of the word, pp was just being bratty. But anything and everything that could be done to get rid of Derpy was a-ok to Yammers and her crowd. (my guess is a lot of her crowd leapt onto DWM for similarly Webinist reasons as the entire derpy thing.)
Honestly, PP’s followers were, in some aspects, worse than her. They’re the ones that were calling victims “rape enablers”, and whatnot. PP just basically acted like a little brat, and continuously made childish little comments attacking the male fan base. Her followers were the ones going around and attacking people (and then having the gall to mock anyone for “hiding” on anon - who wants a bunch of batshit insane “feminists” on their back?? No SHIT they didn’t want to reveal their names!).
If Yamino was doing these things on her own, then I’d say she is absolutely worse than PP.
