Just to put that in perspective, my 88th Antimatter Condenser is going to cost me 763.4 trillion cookies. A Pledge is a drop in the bucket, and barely nudges my total down at all.
I’m with you there
And there’s another upgrade now if you go all the way to 240 clickers.
Nooooo, you must resist the temptation of the evil red cookies! They’re sugar-free with carob chips and they taste horrible. :P
It’s the temptation that’s there.
I agree that gambling for a Elder Frenzy would be a rather foolish way of playing but that’s not really what we’ve been talking about.
With the Covenant you don’t have to worry about red cookies, this is true. You also don’t get any red cookies while the Pledge is active. The only time I let the Pledge expire is when I’m AFK. Any red cookies that spawn in that time don’t get clicked since I’m not there to click them and I activate the Pledge as soon as I start playing again. There’s zero loss, no risk, and the amount I have to pay for the Pledge is significantly less than the loss I would take from having the Covenant.
It’s not while it’s active that’s the problem. Particularly greedy players will still endeavor to get the ‘Elder Frenzy’ bonus, which can net you several hours worth of cookies in only a few seconds. However, with that risk comes many dangers, such as halving your CPS for nearly two minutes or losing 5% of your current total, as you know. With the Elder Covenant bought, you don’t need to worry about losing an exorbitant amount of Cookies.
And what chance of any losses do you have with the Pledge active?
Because even with that -5%, you’re still making cookies at a constant rate without any chance of substantial losses.
How is the -5% irrelevant when it ends up costing you more cookies per hour than paying the capped price for Pledge?
But, you just said that in your game specifically that buying Elder Pledge is easy for you, despite the fact that Elder Pledge’s capped price is higher than the cost of Elder Covenant. The -5% CPS is irrelevant in relation to the cost of the actual upgrade itself.
I’ve just proved how the Covenant in fact does not stay cheaper. The -5% penalty for for having the Covenant active costs more later in the game than paying by the hour to keep the Pledge active. You can do the math yourself if you don’t believe me.
I’m not sure what you’re saying about the red cookies. You don’t get any red cookies with the Pledge active so the only time I get any is when I’m sleeping or AFK, that is, when I’m not there to click them anyway.
But, the Covenant stays cheaper, and there are no downsides to golden cookies, whereas red cookies can cause much greater losses.
OK, here’s an example of what I’m saying. Right now on my game I’m making about 384.7 billion CpS without the Covenant. With the Covenant active I’m making about 365.5 billion CpS. That’s a loss of 19.2 billion CpS or over 69 trillion per hour. The cap of the pledge is about 4.4 trillion so I would definitely be taking a loss to keep the Covenant active. The loss would be even more when you take into account the frenzy+lucky combos which is based on my CpS.
But, the Covenant’s price doesn’t increase, and you can keep the Covenant going for as long as you like, as opposed to the at most an hour you get with the pledge.
I have to disagree. There’s a point at which the 5% loss from the Covenant is greater than the cost per hour to keep up the up the Pledge.
It’s always the better deal.
The price for the Pledge caps at about 4.4 trillion which is a pretty insignificant amount in the late game. I think you are right about the Covenant being a better deal early on though.
But by that point, Elder Covenant and Revoke Covenant are far cheaper, since their prices don’t go up.
