You know, we already have 2 musicians, a unicorn and an earth pony. If they ever made this an actual character in the show, then we would have a Pegasus musician. That would actually be pretty cool if it ever happened.

Doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist (or more accurately didn’t), that’s why I said it was archaic.
 
I am French myself and wasn’t aware we used the letter Ÿ (granted, only in proper nouns as well) until I looked it up.

According to my research, the Y with an umlaut exists in German (apparently as an archaic form of long I, hardly used now except sometimes in proper nouns).
 
There are also some other languages who use the letter Ÿ but only as a diaeresis, not an umlaut.

I don’t even think you can put an umlaut on a Y.  
I only know of Ü, Ö, Ä, Ë and Ï. And Ë and Ï are nothing more than seperations of vowels.
