Oh,no I’m not giving away “statistics” and presenting them as facts.I’m just trying to give a general idea of what I have been seeing.If I have to be truly honest,dA is perhaps the site where he gets the most love(if you take away the anti-clubs and the like,of course).
 
Cadence and Shining never had this problem because,firstly,they are not main characters and then we have the whole “3rd Alicorn” and “Surprise Big Brother that happened to be her only best friend” that pretty much overshadowed the fact that these two were a couple in love about to get married.

It’s far too abstract a thing to try and say whether the fans or detractors are in the majority. In particular, your declaration of an even split on dA is preposterously unprovable.
 
At any rate, what IS certifiable is just how out of proportion the hate for him is. Honestly, there have been far worse characters in the show, and that bleeting cry of “But he’s a love interest!” makes absolutely no difference to me. Shining Armor and Cadance were in a very similar situation all around, but never received this level of negativity.

Ponychan,Equestria Daily and Fimfiction have their share of hate for him too.
 
Heck,even the Tumblr community is not so pleased with him (and for other reasons than “MY WAIFU”).
 
I’m quoting again someone from another imageboard that Flash is basically the Jar-Jar Binks of the fandom.
 
But not everything is hate,though.Devianart is pretty much 50/50 like/hate with him.
 
Some other people love him but to only use him as bait to rustle people.
 
And others are just indifferent,I dunno if that counts.

Those ships have all been around much longer, and besides, on THIS site, Flash gets even more hate than usual, so of course the users here aren’t uploading much of that.

I disagree with this ship being “popular”.
 
There are not a lot of quality Flashlight (let alone Flash Sentry) fanworks around.
 
Just look at his tag (and that’s just in this site).
 
Flashlight is not on the same level of actual popular pairings like Fluttermac (ugh) or Twidash (blegh) or even Sparity.
 
It’s certainly controversial as you said,though.

Isn’t drawing Flashlight the opposite of selling out, since his market is the fandom and it’s unpopular in the fandom?
 
If it bothers anyone, they can probably just imagine it’s someone else. I usually do that with JJ’s Spike pictures because Spike-as-adult-human makes no sense to me. Without color (or clear situational cues) there’s not a heck of a lot distinguishing certain characters.

Looking back to some of the previous comments,I would have to say that no,this isn’t an “ultimate good reception” to this pairing,at least not from JJ.
 
Remember that this(as well as many of the other sketches posted) was just a random request in Joseco’s latest stream.
 
Heck,the dude stated that his true OTP’s are AppleDash,Twilestia with a side of Sparity and Twixie.
 
I’m saying this because I’ve seen comments from other sites that Joseco is a “sell out” or lacking imagination by drawing Flashlight and Sunset Shimmer when in reality all he did was to draw some anon requests like he always did since he started the streams.

It’s not terrible, I’ll agree dislikers are exaggerating this point, but he’s not too stellar I guess. If he had more presence in and out of Equestria (note the species and country name is nowhere in the film, lol), either some ponies would find him acceptable or some ponies, mostly the feminists, would denounce the franchise as subservient women’s propaganda… Or a lesser status than that– I’m not taking 10 minutes to think up the actual construct. :P

I don’t know what you guys are talking about, Flash had some great character to him. I mean, he is in a band, plays lead guitar, wears a leather jacket and drives an expensive custom car. He also has a physical presence that allows other characters to bump into him. Fucking literary masterpiece if I ever saw one.
