My Little Pony - 1992 Edition

As near as I can figure from this, Celestia, Luna and Sunset Shimmer somehow retconned Equestria’s past to bring about the whole “Nightmare Moon imprisoned for a thousand years” story. Luna actually volunteered to become Nightmare Moon and be imprisioned. Meanwhile Sunset Shimmer gave up her unicorn powers so that Twilight Sparkle would be the unicorn powerful enough to break the nightmare spell trapping Luna.
 
Yeah, come to think if it, it doesn’t make any sense.
