Speaking as a hugboxer, intelligent fluffies actually have some promise. There’s a limit to how much a dumb fluffy can be found endearing. Which theya re, but you also like a fluffy who can understand you. Its kinda complex. Its why, lately, there’s been a move towards fiction where smart and dumb fluffies interact with each other.
Equestrian ponies actually could be a threat to humankind. Between the three races, they have brute strength, air superiority, and magic. That said, attempting to harm them would be the dumbest possible way to handle it.
They are not the cowering wretches we were promised. They stand. They are unruly, and therefore cannot be ruled. To challenge them is to court death.
I agree, these fluffies are dull, uninspired and are completely degrading. Making new, intelligent fluffies aren’t gonna go well with hugboxes. Hell, it wouldn’t do well with the abusers since these fluffies don’t display any emotions and that they’re intelligent and can actually defend themselves, when we know the abusers love something that is extremely stupid, hopelessly defenseless and can scream in agony and fear when it feels pain, while also feeling sad by looking with at the abuser with tear filled eyes, wondering why his “daddeh” betrayed him. To me, it’s one of those classic cases of “don’t fix something if it’s already broken”.
