What if a new enemy for the ponies lied in waiting on the moon? Something far worse than any of the Nightmare Forces?

Point taken
I don’t know how self aware they were. If I recall correctly it was because of their over the top and silly nature that readers started to drift away form DC and started to embrace Marvel’s more serious stories.
That’s a fair argument, but remember this is a book where a unicorn was kidnapped by shadow demons who possessed the moon creatures and made them evil. And said unicorn’s friends have to save her otherwise said shadow demons will destroy their home, take over the world, and make the night last forever.
I agree,but you forget the Silver age didn’t take itself too seriously,somewhat self-aware in a meta-sense at some comics(though rather obvious at others)
You can make a compelling story in the silver age world,true.
But it becomes too difficult to be take a dramatic arc seriously with moments like dragging the moon down with a rope.
Fair enough, but I think the “This is bullshit” kind of ludicrous falls more with things like Superboy Prime basically being silver-age Superman but with none of the charm, or Age of Ultron’s time travel, or the infamous One More Day.
I’m a bit more forgiving towards the silver-age since that’s how comics were written and the creators were giving a honest effort. Kinda like an Ed Wood film, sure the stories were crap, but they were given an honest effort. It’s just a fun little part of history now. And as for this, considering in MLP the seasons are literally over with a festival and clean up crew, this can be seen as fun.
You’re welcome to disagree though, this is just how I feel.
There’s a line between “This is bullshit” ludicrous and “Oh dear god this is fun” ludicrous.
And I enjoyed Batman tBatB mind you
@Grumpykins
But the silver-age was the best. It’s ludicrousness is what makes it so damn charming nowadays at least to me anyway, that’s why Batman 66 is the best thing DC has now.
I don’t mean the quality’s bad,but this is just ludicrous,like silver-age superman ludicrous
I might get booed for this,but I have to say it:
Goddammit we’re back at the Silver age again,and not in the funny/awesome way…
Again Chrysalis isn’t weak, she withstood a blast that vaporized a castle wall…TWICE!

Read em and weep. Simple fact of the matter is MLP hasn’t been a very continuity focused series, sure it’s had it’s moments, but for the most part it’s been mostly episodic. This might change come season 4, but as it stands right now that’s what it is. Could Celly’s and Luna simply be derived from their cutie marks? Maybe. There’s simply no way of knowing it for sure unless canon points one way or the other.
It can be hard not to.
Probably, yeah.
Meh, I call BS on the laso thing.
Celestia/Luna moving the sun/moon is most likely something they can do that easily thanks to thm having a special connection them/being their talent, rather than by pure, raw telekinetic power. If it was, then there’s no way they could ever, for example, be defeated by the likes of Chrysalis (love boost or not).
I think the fanbase wanks Alicorns a bit too much.
I don’t follow the comic,so I would like to know if it happened in the IDW series…somehow.
When did that happen?
*Judge Dredd
They also do Judge Dread, what’s your point? If we’re gonna throw characters willy nilly, Space Godzilla might need to go through a certain sailor man first.
@Grumpykins
Probably. They do have feats, like Celestia lassoing and bringing down the friggin moon.(To be fair the others helped but she did bulk of the work)
Am I wrong to call this Alicorn fanwank?
Erm, think the guy was just noticed that the two panels made it look like they were staring at each other. Likely just a joke.
Besides, if he was on the moon Luna could probably crush his head with gravity or something. Near-god he may be, I don’t think Space Godzilla is built to withstand a trillion tons of pressure focused on his cranium.
