|| I’ve never actually played the games, so I didn’t know that. The anime makes him feel more like an asshole, as opposed to Celes’ approach (knowing that she can’t possibly deny anything, so owning up to it is the next best thing) and Mondo’s (I think it was more or less the back story that made his the most interesting so far). The way he denies it so fervently makes him feel more…one sided? Like he only cares for himself. I know that in a school where you have to kill to get out alive, kindness isn’t an option, but hey, I’m the one watching the anime. ||

To be fair, I wouldn’t want to admite to murder even before I was executed. I mean, even though both the game and show made him look like an asshole, the manga showed a different side.
 
In the manga, after Maizono fails her murder attempt and locks herself in the bathroom, Leon gets his toolbox not to finish the job, but to calm her down. Unfortunately, Maizono tries to stab him AGAIN, this time Leon accidentally stabs her in the stomach, and that how she dies.
 
Besides, in the anime, you see Leon trying to escape before breaking down crying. Even if he didn’t want to admit murder, you really feel sorry for the guy.
