>Implying SJWs are capable of feeling anything other than butthurt.
Right. We need more noble warrior Muslimshy pics like the two that I have shown, just to subvert the stereotype that accompanies 99% of the Muslimshy pics out there.
The question, though, is if the SJWs would be pleased or butthurt by badass Muslimshy.
Some of this stuff strikes me as generic attempts at “diversity” that don’t actually capture any diversity that isn’t immediately noticeable to a Western (and usually American) audience. Groan-inducing at best, borderline xenophobic and racist stereotyped caricatures at worst.
You know what else I notice? Pretty all of the Muslimshy pics show her with a Arab-style headscarf and dark skin. Again, it’s the classic fallacy that all Muslims are Arab.
A modicum of research shows that the concept of hijab is interpreted broadly in various parts of the world. In the Turkic realms, for example, hijab is traditionally little more than a hat.
Dark skin is also a liability. The whole reason as to why white people are called “Caucasians” is because 19th-century biologists classified Circassians, a Muslim ethnicity in the Caucasus, as the archetype of the white race.
How very anthropological of you. As for me, I continue to be annoyed by both the stereotype and the assumption.
Many people, as I’ve noticed, make some humanized characters wear hijabs simply because they don’t want to draw the character’s hair; it’s too much of a chore. In those cases, unless you’re deadset on Muslim Fluttershy, it’s a little lazy of you as an artist.
But hey, some people legitmately enjoy the idea. Even if it’s based off of a stereotype, not much we can say to judge. Though I would like religion and ponies to stay separate, for the most part.
It’s still incredibly pervasive, and the last fifteen years or so haven’t exactly improved Western depictions. Sad. And yes, it probably is SJWs that promote those stereotypes. Probably the same ones who don’t want them to wear any sort of veiling at all. I’m not up to date what happened after the coup a few months ago, but I remember Egyptians talking about how some women saw it as a symbol of freedom after the fall of Mubarak’s regime.
Yeah, I understand. It’s a pity that the 19th century Orientalist stereotype of the submissive Muslim woman still remains a fixture in the Western mindset.
And to think that it would be the SJW-types who would promote this stereotype in the name of progress.
My mistake, but my point still stands that those are sadly not even close to the depiction most commonly seen.
Only one of them is Ottoman. The other is Timurid.
Reading the tags or description helps, you know.
Those are both very much exceptions to the rule, being a very different kind of image altogether.
If you want to see white humanizations then all you have to do is search humanized, %90 of them are white but If I’m after tanned, black or whatever it becomes a massive chore.
A vast majority do, though. Both of those had her portrayed as an Ottoman soldier, that’s not what most drawings of this kind I’ve seen show her as.
@And Brother I Hurt People
As much as it pains me to say it, I think BP might be right here. I think it’s a mix of her hairstyle and the stereotype of Muslim women that makes it so popular…
Not all Muslimshy pics show a compliant Muslimshy.

Yeah, I never really got the entire Muslim Fluttershy thing.
Jewish Twilight, Catholic Applejack, hell, Reddit Atheist Apple Bloom, those I almost get. Fluttershy just gets me a little. But eh.
Yeah, might give people from other sites less to bitch and moan about.
Course, I shouldn’t care what they think, but then again, neither should they in looking at this site…
@Dax Rattler
Well, while I’m sure people like you use it innocently, I know we added it because people kept saying stupid shit like “Twilight ain’t a nigger”.
That explains a lot:/
We recently got rid of the dark skin tag anyway. This really should be the next to go.
I don’t know about muslimshy but I have darkskin tracked so I can see it in my watch list.
Save’s me going through 5 pages of humanizations to see if there is anything for me.
At least, I’m assuming it’s used for the same reason as the dark skin tag, so I might be talking out of my ass.
