Personally, I liked it. It’s a somewhat dark but well-written POV piece, exploring the consequences of a member of a hive mind possessing a degree of free will.

My head cannon says that changelings are individuals but they are connected like borg in a sci-fi. You can think for yourself and are expected to but if you get caught thinking about leaving or disobeying…. things gunna get rough for ya.
Hmm…. I think they made camp at the cat village, cause the forest and land around that castle was staked as Changeling territory, so I guess Chrysalis’ castle is that lands version of Canterlot. I need to go read the comics again.
I guess what i had in mind was more of mental connection between every hive member.
And I forget, did they build that castle in the territory of the huggy cats or did they just move in and alter it?
A hive-mind is a collective conscious, and since the changelings have to be told what to do and and can talk, AND they have a castle with their own territory… yeah….
Thinking the changelings are a hive-mind cause they look like bugs is like thinking Celestia’s palace would be a barn cause she’s a pony.
Perhaps my concept of a hive mind wasn’t quite as intense as this one.
….the utter lack of a hive mind? Or that there’s no actual hive, but a castle? That they talk and move on their own? Trust me, the comic curve stomps this headcanon to the ground in a heap.
