Well, what I think it is is that it’s a silent plea across the fourth wall to the author/artist/audience to stop making her do these sick things to her friends.
I mean, the real reason she’s doing this is because some terrible bastards have a really sick sense of humor and find this funny. (He says, knowing full well that he falls squarely into that category.)
