I think you guys are reading to much into Cherry Jubilee, (and taking this joke to seriously) in the show they just showed she owned a cherry buisness. Nothing more…
 
Also, being angry that Pinkie had to use the potty? No offense, but that’s a pretty silly thing to get bent over. Nobody complained about the “Potty Emergency” episode of “Animaniacs,” and such. (And keep in mind Wacko Warner doesn’t wear pants either.)  
It was just for humor, and Pinkie’s li’l “having to use the potty” bit is pretty tame compared to some other shows & cartoons out there.

…I’d have 10 bits. 5 for when you said it, and 5 for when I repeated it just now.

I was mightily shocked when I saw her appear.

Now, am I glad that I was too busy being pissed off at the creators for showing Pinkie going to toilet (THEY DON’T HAVE FUCKING GENITALS, FOR FUCK’S SAKE!!!) and too innocent-minded to notice those undertones. Well, that just adds to why it’s one of the episodes I’m never going to watch again.

Gotta admit, when I first saw the episode, the subtle undertones of prostitution really surprised me.
 
AJ had to do something completely out of character for her friends and family. It was really weird weird to say the least.

And hey, the original animated Batman of the 90’s got away with showing brutal domestic abuse, a la Harley and the Joker.

I agree with anon, that whole situation was pretty dark when looked at with an adult eye.

Cherry Jubilee is an extremely well-designed character. Made to look just like the stereotypical brothel keeper of the old west, not to mention the insinuations of her name and her “cherry” farm. It gives the idea of a much sadder story for Applejack than what is really the case, making the story all the more enticing. Yet it is subtle enough for only adult audiences to understand and to pass the censorship on a childrens’ show! Also, I really like her mane :P
