Ehem…
The trolling is strong with this one.
Well, she’s aware of it.
It was probably a letter writing thing, not speaking face to face.
She does say that Twilight will know more about the place than she will, but that’s probably only because she’s actually visiting it instead of just having a correspondence.
For all we know, Celestia isn’t even aware that her counterpart isn’t even a pony at all. She just knows that it leads somewhere and that a different version of herself must live there.
That’s almost the blessing of having such thin details released. You can come up with so many theories that can’t be contradicted.
I think the stuff with the Celestias communicating is really stretching things.
But okay.
All right, I’m playing.
Aside from making no sense, that plan seemed kind of tacked on, essentially a hasty attempt to save the plot. How did she know the element of friendship had mind control powers? (ect)
I bet Sunset did not know at all what power the Element would give her. Her heart was full of anger and hate and the Element just went along with it. Sunset is just a Discord lite. She’s an angry teen bent on stirring the most shit possible because she hate everyone and herself. Of course she would have been beaten instantly by everyone once back in Equestria. However, she would have done some serious damage and that would have been enough for her.
How did Twilight even become prom queen when she wasn’t even a student? Perhaps most importantly, how did Twilight afford the drink she spilled on Flash Sentry?
Celestia is very smart and may have held a lot of info when she sent Twilight to the Other World. No way that the Goddess of Equestria had such a portal in her attic for so long without knowing where it led to. Maybe Goddess Celsetia spoke to Headmistress Celestia so that she knew that Twilight was on a mission. That’s why Headmistress Celestia let a lot of things slide and subtly gave Twilight free food and turned a blind eye for all the rest. Like sleeping in the library, entering the contest, and not going to classes at all.
Also, Twi’s friend may have treated her at the Cake’s.
Aside from making no sense, that plan seemed kind of tacked on, essentially a hasty attempt to save the plot. How did she know the element of friendship had mind control powers? Why did the element of friendship have mind control powers? What did this have to do with her breakup with Flash Sentry? If she was willing to break into a heavily guarded palace, why couldn’t she have broken into a high school? Why was she still concerned with becoming prom queen? Why was she then suddenly not concerned with becoming prom queen after Twilight became prom queen? How did Twilight even become prom queen when she wasn’t even a student? Perhaps most importantly, how did Twilight afford the drink she spilled on Flash Sentry?
Sunset’s voice actor, is the woman who does Twilight’s singing voice. (Tara doesn’t do the singing parts.)
Let me freaking guess, same voice actor?
Oh yeah.
What irony.
Why? Google it.
coughs in hand I do.
I agree. There was nothing that made her stand out from any other generic high school snob antagonist, aside from having a much darker agenda. She had no distinct personality whatsoever.
But yeah, a villain song would have been nice. (Three season and a movie. We only have two villain songs for FIM, while we’ve a couple dozen others.) Since the movie itself didn’t divulge much about Sunset (the comic helps tell us her backstory on how she got to the human world and why.) a song could have helped give her a better goal. People love villain songs.
Yeah, I’m okay with Equestria Girls. The songs were nice and I really did enjoy Sunset. But a villain song could have made it spectacular.
Basest definition of “Villain song” is “song sung by villain somewhat about said villain”.
Flim and Flam may not be Discord level villains, but they were still the antagonists for the episode and their song was all about them, so it does kind of count.
Not sure if Flim and Flam song was a villain song. Then again Gaston was a villain song and it wasnt evil
I might be remembering wrong, but didn’t she go on about taking over Equestria with the mind-controlled school-kids because being queen of the school didn’t amount to much?
We’ve only gotten two (three if you count the reprise as separate): “This Day Aria” and “The World Famous Flim-Flam Brothers”.
While Nightmare Moon and Sombra are the kind of villains who definitely wouldn’t burst into song, Discord most certainly is. Hell, his original statue form looked sorta like he was in the middle of one!
Yeah, Sunset could have used a villain song to explain her past and motives. And it didn’t need to be complex.
Her part in “This Day Aria” told us everything we needed to know about Chrysalis without being an expository mess.
Luckily Sunset Shimmer had anything but a one-track mind. Was she trying to take over Equestria? Was she trying to get revenge for losing her boyfriend? Or maybe she just wanted to be prom queen some more? We just don’t know. Neither her motivations nor her apparent knowledge of how the Elements of Harmony can be weaponized are ever explained.
