I actually like this idea. FlashLight as a straightforward romance makes me roll my eyes, but something like this is a lot more interesting.

Despite my earlier post, I am glad he won’t be showing up for at least another season. I consider myself a romantic, yet a serious romance would likely upset the show’s style and is best left to the imagination of the fandom.

That can work as well.
 
It can even set the grounds for some actual development for his character.That would be quite interesting.

I get the criticisms people are voicing, and yet I’d love for a story to tackle these issues. Equestrians (or at least Canterlot residents) still put a lot of emphasis on rank and I think this would be a natural reaction. Plus, if you want me to support this shipping, this a great hook.
 
Watching these two overcome such obstacles would flesh out their relationship and get me to believe in it more than having Twilight constantly blushing at Flash. This could be great.
 
As to Cadance’s line, it could be interpreted as her explaining to Twilight why this is more of an issue than it was with Shining Armor. It doesn’t necessarily mean she’s denouncing the relationship, and is trying to alert Twilight to the burden she’s going to face.

Princess of Love knows a good (or bad) thing when she sees it?

Cadance is Princess of Love, her dumping on Twilight for loving someone the wrong social rank for her is silly. I get what the artist is going for, but they should really have chosen a different character for that, or maybe struck an uneven tone with some characters supporting and some opposing? Their relationship tearing the social circle apart would be just as effective as everyone being against it for inspiring heartbreak.

there is an idea…they made a mistake but now work hard to fix it and learn some lesson along the way..nice

i feel like the reason this would not work is,  
imagine in medieval times if a new young princess went to some grunt guard, lost her virginity to him and then tried to date him…  
everyone would go nuts.

Luna might be a little old fashioned around the idea, but taking from what glitton said, she might try to make Flash work harder in order rise in rank, to be “worthy” of Twilight.

It may not please the upper echelons of Canterlot society, but it’s shown that Rarity is the only one who’s not a part of it who really gives a fuck about what they think (and even then, it’s shown that their opinions completely change when a higher ranked pony has the opposite view (Like with Fancypants and even Celestia herself)).

It is pretty flimsy. And the idea of Cadence or Celestia being mad at the idea doesn’t feel right either. They’d probably just giggle and accept the idea.
