Well, sort of. It’s because indie rock overtook emo, pop punk, and post-hardcore as the go-to genre instead of radio pop, and that is generally associated with hipster culture.
Which is a shame because a lot of indie stuff is fucking awesome.
I agree, MCR has some of the best lyrics in their genre. They’re very hopeful in places, and generally anthemetic. They really get the short end of the stick in a lot of things.
