When it comes down to it, as much as the target audience is said to generically want a pony, they’d actually not enjoy a real one. You’ve got three decades of experimenting with various styles until a balance was found.

Oh, and horses don’t have nostrils like this, either.

I can understand that, but frankly it looks more like real horse nostrils than what FiM does. Really, when you get right down to it, FiM’s “ponies” at times look more like dogs.
