An acceptable ship considering the movie’s circumstances. Unfortunately, Hasbro will continue forcing the union between him and Twilight.
 
No matter how much sense would make this union, or the possibility that Sunset would make a great protagonist now that she’s “reformed”, Hasbro still won’t do it.
 
In the unfortunate (but unlikely) case that Hasbro decides to create a spin-off, expect Sunset to be the bad girl once again, and Flash trying to impress (and some episodes later, hook up with) Twilight.

A “straw that broke the camel’s back” kinda thing.  
After her many attempts to try to seek power on her own and even after gaining it (the sunset satan thing) she still ends up short. Being dropped from her power high really shocked her system.  
Also another thing to note is Sunset in naturally a brass and prideful person. She holds herself in high reverence and runs off when she messes up to save face (she’s like a harsher Rainbow Dash, but didn’t have friends to help catch her whenever she over did it), but now that she has messed up in both her home world and the human world, she doesn’t have anymore places to run. She literally has to face her consequences one way or another.

You know, this is rather nice. Although, given the origin comic, I’m still rather surprised at how willing Sunset Shimmer was to repent of her misdeeds at the end of the movie. Anybody mind fielding a reason for that?
