This toyset wasn’t related at all to that crystal treehouse thing that Twilight got as a replacement.
Target Audience for Show: Both Bronies and Little Girls
Target Audience for Toys: JUST THE LITTLE GIRLS.
Hopefully. I’m looking to get this set, and those wings are probably the thing putting me off. I wouldn’t wanna spend half an hour trying to get a sticker and all the stickiness off of one wing. And I think the telescope is removable, but it has this clippy thing on the bottom, which makes it look odd. Like the perfume and hairdrier accessories have somethings on it that you either hook onto her hooves or her horn (whoa there). Oh Hasbro, Hasbro, Hasbro.
The stupids stickers are just that: stickers. Usually, stickers are easely removable.
As for the telescope, let’s just pretend that the sight is on top.
>Girly palace, check.
>Observatory, check.
>Library, check.
>Optional full regalia, check.
>Standard sized pony with an action feature, check.
Conclusion:
I was just joking around anyway. So’kay.
This one isn’t so bad though, or it wasn’t until I saw @Cherry Berry ‘s post. That’s some Lisa Frank shit right there.
I’ve always thought that the toys were ironically entertaining, and it’s amusing how little the show resembles them.
Many seem to think–and I would agree–that the toys often make too much a point about being girly, to the point of undermining the show’s theme or making it like earlier toy generations instead of giving justice to the show’s vision. Toys that do not follow the show at all like the Pink Celestia with derped eyes and inappropriate voice bytes are just far too cheap, and children who follow the show deserve better.
OTOH, I relish in how off-model the toys are because of the sheer irony of the show traditionally acting as a commercial for the toys, despite not really being represented in the show. It makes the show itself feel more special and sets it apart from the underlying commercialism, in a sense.
As far as official merchandise, I generally collect the comics and the DVDs, so I’m not vested in that sense.
@Sjogre
Yeah, I see Twilight making any palace or part of the palace she gets into a planetarium and making it open for the public when she’s not using it, like how she offers her library books to others.
I should have specified that I was directing that at BP
They should be making toys for us! We’re the target audience, right?
Oh, wait.
She lives in a library. Moving into a planetarium makes perfect sense.
Have you seen the other side of her wings?
“My wings are so pretty!”
Pah, just look at that toy version of Twilight, that’s an eye cancer hazard.
But the shaded princess Twilight in the stock pose sells it.
I believe the Collectors do care.
I know. The insulation on this place is terrible, and don’t even get me started on the property values!
