Would he have been considered a prince?
Did he even have the Elements with him?
Would they have fired the beams of dimensional transportation magic to bring him to Celestia’s pocket dimension with the screens of his life reflections?
Even if he was supposed to, would Celestia have gone through with making him an alicorn?
Would Twilight’s life be anything like it is now if Celestia wasn’t looking to fill the position?

Yeah, but that doesn’t follow: If she could transform her into an Alicorn at any time, why didn’t she? That also doesn’t match up with the story of how Cadance became an Alicorn.
@Littlecabbit
Celestia didn’t turned Twilight into an alicorn, we haven’t seen her casting any spells on Twilight. Twilight did that by herself becasue magic aura ball that started the transformation was emitted from Twilight’s own body. Celestia just gave an explanation.
What, you think Celestia set the elements up to send Twilight to that pocket space? that’s possible, Celestia had always planed to turn Twilight into an Alicorn aparently, so she could have set the whole thing up, I believe it was Lauren who said that Celestia always has a number of plans set up, so it wouldn’t be outside of her character to have set the entire thing up
Perhaps when she Discord-proofed them, she also set up a magical trap with an incredibly specific trigger while she was at it?
Well, yeah, she didn’t USE them, not being connected to them wouldn’t necessarily prevent some-one from casting magic on them.
Actually something I’d like to muse on here:
Celestia has no connection to the Elements anymore. But she can still use magic on them, like she showed in Flutter On.
Just a detail that may or may not be important.
It didn’t though, Celestia turned Twilight into an Alicorn, go rewatch that scene, all she did was end up in that spacial area, where Celestia was waiting for her, after she went through that whole thing where she showed her past scenes of her life, and explained to her that she did something no-one else ever did, she then turned Twilight into the Alicorn, the spell had nothing to do with that
I think we know where Starswirl went. His time spell went to the future and he saw who the greatest unicorn mage in history was.
Then he gave his hat to Trixie, invented the gun and shot himself.
Gee, I’d find living with that knowledge almost unbearable.
…
Faust would have thought that far ahead. ;___;
All that aside, i do wonder how Starswirl would have reacted to being told his magic needed more friendship. Imagine you were a master carpenter, and one day someone comes up to you and tells you your chairs lack the power of friendship. Theres something a little bit messed up about having what seems to be a scientific discipline, and then declaring it needs friendship or youll fail completely and some coddled workshy teenage layabout will complete your lifes work by accident and surpass you completely.
No, we know exactly what the spell did to Twilight: I made her an Alicorn.
As for “Having” the elements- Neither did Twilight, Directly- she was standing next to the bearers, and it still worked- for the spell to function, it doesn’t seem to need for you to physically have all the elements yourself. Presumably, when he cast the spell, the power would be channeled to him from wherever it was.
We see Luna and Celestia alive and unchanging for thousands of years- if not immortal, Alicorns are extraordinarily long-lived.
Also, Cadance is an extraordinarily small sample size- We honestly don’t know how often they are created, and even if we know that they’re timeless- that is, don’t age, don’t die of old age- it doesn’t mean they’re unkillable. There may have been other Alicorns in the past, but circumstances may have ended their existence- just not time.
Also, technically Princess in Equestria is a title of achievement- reaching the Alicorn state- technically not one of gender.
Man, that’s a really weird concept.
Becoming an alicorn makes you immortal? How? We saw with Cadance that it isn’t a one in a billion event. If alicorns were immortal, you’d think that after a thousand years there’d at least be 2 or 3 more? One every three or four centuries maybe?
More importantly
Alicorn-ification comes with a free sex change! Starswirl would have been one hairy lady.
@Rikmach
Well, we don’t know, we only know that they came into the picture only to get rid of Discord, he may have created the spell long before Discord ever came around, and since we don’t really know WHAT the spell did to Twilight, we don’t know what it would have done to him, considering the the two sisters were the first bearers of the elements, he probably didn’t have them, and if he didn’t have them, completing the spell might not have done anything at all to him.
While it’s obscure one line in the Equestria historia book seems to imply that they BECAME ALicorns, they may have been normal ponies before that, we don’t really know
What, you think the Unicorn that invented time magic wouldn’t be able to survive until the Princess’s time?
That said, odds are he was attempting to become an Alicorn as a last-ditch effort to fend off the reaper- I’d assume that the spells he used to stay young required more and more power to function as he got older and older, so he sought permanent immortality- the fact that he failed (due to not fully understanding friendship) is why he’s not still around as an Alicorn Prince/Princess.
mirror pool ?
NEIN! The Princesses are eternal.
To say otherwise is heresy.
starswirl came before typo~
That being said, I don’t think Twilight was actually warped ANYWHERE I think the elements nuked her.
