Your entire argument is that it’s stale boring and repetitive, but isn’t that the entire point of the games?

Well, if they made a remake of ONE Pokemon generation THREE TIMES OVER, that would make a little more sense.  
The games are remade to look better, feel better, and feel better overall. It’s for people who want to replay their favorite Pokemon games with the feel of it being new.  
But starters are different. We at least want to try another typing instead of Fire/Fighting. Maybe Fire/flying, or Fire/Dark, or, as it might end up being, Fire/Psychic.

You say that repetition is bad, yet most people seem to want all the old games remade.

It’s not the type, it’s the repetitiveness.  
After all, if Fenniken is a Fire/Fighting, that would make a Fire/Fighting starter FOUR GENERATIONS IN A ROW. I mean, come on!  
Besides, I’m picking Chespin. Hope to god he’s a Grass/Dark.

It’s pointless to have another Fire-fighter from a gameplay perspective. Make another one and it will naturally compete with the other Fire-fighters. It will end up either completely inferior or superior to an existing one, so in any outcome you get one less Pokemon from a pool to choose from. Give it another type, like Fire/Psychic or Fire/Steel and it could fill a niche that the others don’t.
 
Stealth Rock is just game breaking. Hopefully it gets a nice big whack from the nerf bat this gen.

I like Firefighter pokemon. I’ll be kinda disappointed if it isn’t one.

you know i love how gamefreak either does somehting stupid or trolls the gamers and i’m thinking they’re going to still use fire-fighting type for fenniken.
