Spike is the episode antagonist. He has a massive hard-on for proving Twilight is BEST PONY EVER, to the point of heckling a free performer over it, and then antagonizing her (clearly social outcast) fans.

Spike is that dudebro in school that taunts nerds because they like sci-fi instead of FOOTBALL.

Honestly, Spike gets a lot of free passes over being a “baby”, but he’s caused more problems to everyone than any other character in the show, bar maybe Chrysalis.

That doesn’t change the fact that it was his idea. He knows them better than the audience does in that episode - it’s our introduction to them and he knows them by name, knows them well enough not to be surprised when they bowl him over like the retards they are. And it was transparently obvious how they were going to react even to the audience that just met them.

Considering how many episodes there are where the entire problem is caused by Spike, I tend to consider him the archvillain of the entire series.

No it’s not!
Everyone puts Trixie down for being an antagonist, but it was Snips ans Snails there are the real antagonist of the episode.
It’s THEM we should talk of who did wrong, not poor Trixie! And I’m not really a fan of her.

You might remember that if she hadn’t run, she would have been crushed inside her wagon.

After her initial failed attempts, she stuck near the Ursa until the end of the episode.

I guess a man jumping away from a bus about to run him over is also a coward?

Think there’s an article missing from the title (“Once Upon A Time”)

Also, to Trixie’s credit, she at least tried to stop the Ursa Minor before Twilight stepped in. She failed, but she made the attempt; nopony else (aside from Twi) did even that.
