A freshly redrawn version of this picture:
Same concept, completely redesigned in terms of execution. In my opinion, the original picture looks really messy. It’s almost like an unfinished first draft which I’ve brainstormed. To be fair, that is not far from the truth. I’ve just transferred my raw imagination onto paper which did not result in the best picture. Princess of the Future Version 2 is the final design. It is drastically improved. Instead of mashing together vague ideas of a sci-fi futuristic dress + a pony princess I have actually chosen a specific art style to create the sci-fi dress: Art Deco. Mostly the architectural aspect of Art Deco with it’s use of geometric shapes to create decorations rather than flowery patterns. It really fits Cadence when you think about it. I mean, “heart” is technically a geometric shape. Crystals are also cone shaped, her castle it’s … well … it’s a spire … Crystal Spire. I think it’s fitting at least. I have also redesigned many of her accessories to fit this style. Her crown for example is completely different, more hexagonal. The dress itself is more neutral in colour. Mostly white but I think it helps the golden lines and other rainbow patterns stand out. I particularly like how her mane is much more pronounced with intense colours in contrast to everything else. The dress still includes a high-tech underlay. that’s the sci-fi part of this sci-fi dress, including all sorts of nifty gadgets, a holo-projector (finally including digital clock), wake-up-sleepy-head shocking device, radio/spell receiver, forcefield bubble, tiny shrink-pocket for shrinking and enlarging snacks.
