aug 23 2023 update: redrew her ref, with minor changes to simplify her design and make it a bit more show style friendly. doesn’t mean she can’t be drawn with more complex hair like in her older reference, but i think this is easier to start with as a basic reference. other than that, just updated the show style and made everything look a bit better hehe

gemma! often called “little gem” by her parents <3
her cutiemark is meant to reflect her ability to find the hidden gem in anyone… basically, seeing the best in everybody! in practice, however, she applies her talent most via doing makeup & etc :) she can make anyone look good of course!

design notes:

wing tips, hair highlights, and eyeshadow are all a shimmery purple
mane can be up in a ponytail or down
freckles on her cheeks as well as on her flank
completely average mare body shape & height!
rarity style eyes

gemma was originally designed by g-eckonomicon ! however, i was not the first pair of hands to have her. actually, her first owner was my friend mcsfit <3 through a trade, i obtained her in october of last year.
i designed her cutiemark myself, and i’m insanely proud of it. i think it came out so beautiful and absolutely perfect for what i wanted! the name “gemma” was also my own work :) a one-word name really seemed to fit her, so i haven’t bothered expanding it beyond that.
