Yes, Mac was discorded into a dog. Considering that discording turns you into your polar opposite, that means he must actually be fairly intelligent, even if he rarely shows it.
(seriously, canon makes it pretty clear that Big Mac is much smarter than AJ, and may be one of the smartest non-princess characters in the show; he just doesn’t speak up because what’s the point when you’re surrounded by loud girls?)

I cant say city boys are any smarter, im sure both environments have their ups and downs, thats why there are stereotypes, someone somewhere seen the bad side and told the other ppl. Actually city people might be more proud and less trustful than country people.
I live in an area that so many FALSE stereotypes are associated with it bugs me to know end when people use it to justify something, if it’s your opinion that;s fine but to base it off a untrue stereotype makes me want to kick your ass.
I live just on the edge of the country and grew up with “country boys” and they are all smarter then any person you would call a “city boy” I have ever known.
