Well It’s because … I don’t play the Violin … wish I had you guys to explain me that then. Thanks for the support
My only complaint is that you’re holding the bow wrong.
Well, at least she has Octavia’s look, and somber expression down perfectly.

I’ll admit I know very little about stringed instruments, but given Octavia’s talent and that most fiddle players seem giddy and have a lot of fun playing the fiddle it seems reasonable :P
And the cosplayer made me love Octavia even more.
Blowing off steam… on the Fiddle
I can imagine her playing this music in the background during an invasion in Canterlot while the ponies try to fight off the invaders.
My thoughts exactly.
Continuing on this train of thought, it’s completely plausible that Octavia Melody and Fiddlesticks are, in actuality, the same pony.
Maybe playing bluegrass country music on the fiddle is Octavia’s way of blowing off steam and an escape of the seriousness that enshrouds her when she plays her more classical stringed instruments.
Her serious face when playing matches it accurately o.o More like Celestia makes her play this at Tea Time or something
That sounds quite accurate when said like this. Maybe she specializes in strings and ended up loving the cello, in the end. She doesn’t look like she only plays one instrument.
Mission accomplished.
It actually makes more sense to me that Octavia would be an excellent violinist; her cutie marks is a treble clef, which is the clef violins commonly use (as opposed to the bass clef used by cellos).
To me, the cello seems like something she picked up after she got her cutie mark.
Wrist is not touching it (I cannot bend my wrist that much to begin with) and the bow is about to touch the strings.
(As a side note, It felt irrespectful to the Violin because you know, using it for image is not what an instrument is for… maybe I do care too much…)
Thanks a lot … I’m no violinist… or cellist… but wanted to reflect the seriousness Octavia has for music.
Her facial structure suits Octavia as does the serious and focused expression. There is a barely noticable sneer that suggests she is awfully self-critical as she is playing her piece (hinting that Octavia’s artistic angst fuels her quest for perfection). The jet black hair also reflects the Octavia’s passion for music and seriousness of the piece as a whole.
All in all excellent cosplay; it effectively captures and portrays Octavia’s character thoroughly.
