Long overdue commission for Anonymous
Spiritual sequel to a previous commission of a similar nature
Man masticates upon a mass of miniature moon-shaped confections; begins to metaphysically metamorphose into a Majestic Moon Mare, materially and mentally.

It feels like an eternity has passed but here you are: Friday afternoon. Your work week has been a slog. Constant assignments given at the last minute are an absolute nightmare. The air of expectation that you’re some kind of attendant to plug the gaps — a servant at the beck and call of your managers — has become disconcerting. Your role certainly doesn’t fit your skills or your personality. You’re exhausted.
“So now it’s time to do stuff I want.” You mumble under your breath, carrying shopping bags from your car into the house. A quick stop at the supermarket on the way home means you’ve got everything for a relaxed evening. Pizza, snacks, and video games make the perfect weekend self-care package.
Putting away your shopping in the kitchen cupboards, however, you realise your error.
“Did I forget to buy cookies?” You check through the remaining bags with a sigh. “How did I forget to-ugh! Crap. I guess I’ll just…”
And then an idea hits. Likely because you’re on tip-toes searching through a cupboard and there’s a bag of flour at eye height. You’re not averse to cooking meals from scratch. In fact, you quite enjoy the process when you’re not exhausted from the workweek grind. You consider the bag of flour for a few seconds before grabbing it, smiling to yourself. A bit of baking right could be the therapeutic activity you need. Warm soft cookies will be the reward at the end! Searching the kitchen reveals you have all the ingredients necessary. A bag of sugar and a block of butter. Chocolate chips from…oh wait…you haven’t got any chocolate chips! And no way are you using raisins. So you’ll have to improvise…
There’s a bar of white chocolate you can break up and use instead. Perfect!
“That will have to do.” You decide, setting everything down on the kitchen worktop and searching for a mixing bowl.
Following a recipe online makes the whole process relaxing; as simple as pre-heating the oven and following basic instructions. Without an apron, you don’t exactly look like a regular baker. Blue jeans and a green t-shirt are lazy loungewear that you’re happy to indulge in, walking over the tiled floor in just your socks.
A combination of shopping after work and baking a whole batch of cookies means — when they’re ready to eat — it’s already late into the evening. You really should have made dinner. But that can wait until after you’ve tried a cookie.
The white chocolate chunks are still molten as you transfer the sweet treats to a ceramic plate. You’re giddy at the smell of them. Though that might be low blood sugar too. You could have sworn you made round shapes. No attention to detail was required to splodge balls of dough onto the baking tray. Now you’ve removed the cookies from the oven, however, you can see every biscuit has formed a crescent shape. Perhaps a rounded half-moon is a better description. Strange. Did you add too much flour to the mixture? Whatever! The shape won’t do anything to affect the taste.
“Oh wow, these are amazing!”
You mumble between a mouthful of warm cookie. It crumbles in your mouth. The white chocolate is sweet and feels tingly upon your tongue. You were only going to have one before cooking a proper meal. But already, you’re reaching out for a second half-moon cookie.
