Except, if Cozy was abandoned at birth because of being a freakish mutant, she would have died. This scenario is not “left outside a hospital or orphanage” it’s just dumped as garbage. And if she did grow up as an orphan she (and everyone) would have no idea of her backstory to be bitter about.
Bottom line, tragic backstory is never an excuse.
