An entire frozen forest clearing melted in a matter of seconds. There’s not gonna be even wet when they come back.
Also, while Twitch may could fit between the bars, Allura doesn’t, and she’s too protective of Twitch to let him alone.
The flight… you got me there. Maybe there’s a flight ceiling she cannot cross?

Again, I have to ask…why did Allura have to break the lock?

She has wings…she could fly over the gate. And Twitch is small enough to fit between the bars.

And breaking the lock just leaves evidence that she was there, along with all the ice she made while “saving” Twitch from the Ferris wheel.
