Day five - tornado passed pretty close to my house, so I lost power last night before when I normally draw, so once the tornado had passed I did some Octavia gesture sketches by flashlight. I’m starting to remember some of the tricks, like following the sternocleidomastoid down to the center of the collar bone, and using that to figure out where the sternum is, and then using that to create the rib cage and get the bulk of the core done in just a few strokes. I think I’m going to practice regular gesture sketches every few days - there’s a lot of muscle memory still in my hand about ‘draw the human’ that seems to be coming back.
Fortunately, the tornado doesn’t seem to have killed anyone. But most of the county was without power for at least 12 hours, and we lost a lot of really old and tall White Pine trees :(
These trees were planted in 1890 when my house was built. Whenever we lose one its always really sad. But, we’re ok and the house is ok and we’ve got power back, so now we can start doing what’s next. And what’s next for me is figuring out what I want to draw today :)
