I think she was addressing season 4, not EqG. Even then, they always have some sort of way to trick us.

You know how Hasbro, and cast and crew at DHX have said several times that “Twilight will not be leave her friends”, and “Twilight will stay in Ponyville”. I hope they don’t find a loop hole so they can do that.
 
For example since this world has a version of her friends in it, if she decides to stay in the “other world” she technically would not be “leaving her friends”, and if the town that this school is in is called Ponyville then technically she would not be “leaving Ponyville” either.
