I’m guessing since Magic does not work here ( or the very least the magic in one-self can’t say the same thing for magical artifacts like the crown or the alicorn amulet ) the Nightmare Moon event never took place in this world so this world’s Twilight never had to “make some friends” so she stayed a unsocial bookworm who only threw herself into her studies.
It’s a spin-off movie, if there is more will be seen with how well it’s received(if it’s not to bad critically and makes enough money in the eyes of the Hasbro execs) then it may be more.
So, the spin-off thing was part of the rumor days?
That’s IF it goes beyond just the movie.
It would be like writing with your left hand for a right-handed person, except worse.

Though they show in the trailer, that it’s a world where twilight most likely never existed, an thus never became friends with those girls.
That or a world where that twilight just never met them. Either is plausible.

For everyone else: The Dog being in Spike’s Body. Imagine the destruction it could cause.
