That was probably the game called “Mario Clash.”

I remember playing Wario Land on that. There was also a robot boxing game and a Mario “kill everything in the room” game.

Indeed, I guess those rumors that Nintendo “fired” him over the VB were wrong & exaggerated. (Like the rumors that Miyamoto didn’t like the DKCountry series, which turned out to be fake to. Alot of DKC/Rareware fans used to bash Miyamoto, because of those rumors, I remember…)
 
Plus actually Yokoi actually worked with Nintendo before they even started making video game software. (He used to design toys/gadgets for them.) So he’s been with them for quite a few decades.

he was never fired too, just “move to a different position”, firing the man who invented the D-pad would have been super stupid.

You mean Gumpei Yokoi? According to his colleague Yoshihiro Taki, the reason he left Nintendo wasn’t due to the VB’s failure. He said “Yokoi had originally decided to retire at 50 to do as he pleased.” He also finished the “Game Boy Pocket” smaller redesign, shortly before he left Nintendo.

When Oculus Rift comes out, I wanna see a Virtual Boy casemod.

Y’know, I heard “Wario Land VB” was actually pretty good, and the best Virtual Boy game.  
I say rerelease it for 3DS as a “3D Classics” title.
