Untentional, thinking talking is necessary to make friends, fearing that Sunburst might not have anything in common with her thus rendering her friendship with him nonexistent, and fearing her anger would drive Trixie away and it was Trixie who broke the anger bottle. All are untentional and her naivety at work. You’re making it sound like she did those intentionally out of malicious intents. It’s not just about her doing these things. It’s her mindset that makes me think of her this way. Why is it so hard to look at her actions and motivations just a little deeper?

Look, I didn’t make this just to see even more Starlight bashing that never seems to end. If we want less contention for her, maybe we should stop focusing on her mistakes.

There’s also leading the maulwurf to the changeling hive, casting a spell on Big Mac to force him to talk, putting Sunburst in a foal’s body, and taking control of a group of ponies in “All Bottled Up.” She may have her reasons in every case, but she’s the one pony who has a track record of casting spells on others against their will or otherwise violating their agency.

I thought part of the appeal of the character is that she has to struggle with the darkness inside her, unlike others such as Sunset who were instantly, magically reformed. But alas, Starlight has been the point of too much contention within the fandom, so I’ll probably cork it there.

She had like one time where she mind controlled ponies and that’s when she naively thougt she was supposed to complete all the tasks at once like homework. She absolutely regretted switching Luna and Celestia’s Cutie Mark even though it was the right call. And she traded away Trixie’s wagon not knowing how important it means to her which has nothing to do with her “malicious habits”. It’s just a mistake.

Probably because I’m one of the few that have both Starlight and Hitch as my favorite ponies. Starlight has a lot to go for than being a reformed villain. There are a lot of nuances after her reformation.

I’ve seen Hitch be compared to Fluttershy plenty times, but this has to be the first time I’ve seen him compared to Starlight.

I don’t see much of the resemblance, but hey, I approve. People constantly keep comparing Hitch to Applejack or Fluttershy as if he’s just a combination of the two, but he actually has a lot more traits that make him comparable to many other characters. I honestly think he has a little bit of all of the Mane 6, aside from probably Pinkie.

Why did I have a feeling that WaynePonePone made this before I looked at OP’s name? Everything about it has his thumbprint all over it :P

She becomes really pure after her reformation, and I always feel like her reason for her villainy is because she is too naive to realize things don’t just work black and white.

Well, she doesn’t put her sense of duty first, whereas Starlight constantly puts her students first and Hitch sets law for the wellbeing of citizens of Maretime Bay. For me Fluttershy’s care for animals is usually out of love instead of a sense of duty. Not that Starlight and Hitch don’t love but they both had to struggle between responsibility and love where their responsibility puts them at a conflict with their friends, while Fluttershy never had that problem.

Oh wait, She Talks to Angel happened. Um well, that’s like one episode and the others have multiple and a movie.

Great, but this means Fluttershy is not responsible?

Starlight is many things, but I don’t think “pure precious baby” is one of them.
