Hey everyone,
Today I decided to redesign a character that I haven’t depicted in literal years, the affable, friendly, yet eminently professional mare Touchstone.
First to be replaced were the original mane and tail styles, swapped out for a cleaner and less complex one. Her eyes have received some attention, with the addition of a deeper tint. Her horn was removed, as I decided that I wanted her to be an earth pony. Beyond that, her whole colour palette in general has received the usual colour rebalancing.
If you’re wondering, Touchstone works for the CrossCut family, and assays the purity of precious metals. Her name refers to an ancient method of doing this wherein you rub a sample of precious metal against a touchstone, which is a small stone tablet, normally made of slate or lydite.
Her cutie mark also refers to this assaying method, as it is a set of gold streaks, against her slate coat colour.
And yes, she is a happy and joyful mare, despite her early onset arthritis being quite the issue for her. She is a true optimist, and is the kind of mare who always looks for the good in everypony. It has been noted that despite being a grown adult in her 40’s, she is a bit naiive, and has been scammed in the past- most recently by Lily the Pink.
