Don’t really mind what they changed with Zipp (basically the same thing), but you could very well say everypony is the “heart” of the group. Heart is too broad to be an element and it also doesn’t really fit Misty more than empathy.

No, if we take into consideration how Misty firstly had ‘Empathy’. I think the meaning of her element is still the same, but word was changed as it could be too complex for kids and including points I made in previous comment possibly. For now just speculation but I’d not be surprised if they thought similarly.
Zipp is Courage means everything she shown thus far. She’s a rebel, dives into things, solves them etc. Misty was brave too but it’d be strange to repeat same ‘element’ - the cast of G5 is variety, Hasbro intend ponies to be different. So, Misty’s thing is feeling for everyone, thus ‘heart’. True, ‘heart’ has a bunch of various associations IRL, one of them is indeed bravery, however, feelings are inside ‘heart’ and Misty feels for everyone, even those she doesn’t know (so it’s different from ‘love’ because to love you often have to know someone personally).

Misty has Empathy. I know Hasbro changed the word itself, but…
  1. Hitch already had ‘kindness’;
  2. ‘Empathy’ word could be too complex for kids? Let’s not forget that one time when in G4 cartoon word ‘onomatopoeia’ was omitted;
  3. ‘Heart’ is associated with many
    feelings (while ‘brain’ is cue for ‘rationality’, ‘logic’ etc. despite
    of course feelings are in the brain XD)
  4. MLP G5 has phrase ‘Hoof to heart’ as oath for helping someone in need and even hooves have shape of heart on them;
  5. New logotype has two hearts in it;
  6. Hearts are just adorable;
