The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@Background Pony
We could be– it all depends on how out of touch Hasbro really is with the viewers. If EQG fails, it’s possible that they will actually look at the feedback it got and say “Oh, I guess we should have listened sooner. This was a horrible idea for a spinoff.” I hope that that’s what happens, although I would still keep my guard up.

Anyone with two brain cells to rub together already figured out this wasn’t real. Also, you forgot to mention that blatant 3-pixel gap on the top of the picture which you can fairly easily recognize as part of the inset image in the article @Masem posted.

So, if the movie succeeds, we’re screwed, and if it fails, we’re screwed? Nice to know I don’t have to worry about it, then.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

I think the thing about this fake article that rustled everyone’s jimmies more than anything else is that it at least seemed plausible. If Equestria Girls flops, I am worried that Hasbro won’t just shrug it off as a failed experiment– they see EQG as an investment, and I question if they would actually have the sense not to cross-pollinate if it fails.

Basically, if EQG fails, there is a possibility that someone at Hasbro will say “Clearly the problem is that the fanbase isn’t aware of it. What we need to to is use the main show as a way to make them feel invested in Equestria Girls, so we need an episode of the show that will promote the DVD.”

I think that fear is in the back of a lot of fans’ minds, and some troll on /mlp/ successfully tapped into that with this, even if the fakeness of it was quickly uncovered. If Hasbro had to piss off the entire Brony fanbase just to sell a product that they were heavily invested in, I have little doubt that they would.

Also, “the company also plans to fill many of the available advertisement slots during that episode with advertisement for the DVD release” is a MASSIVE hint.

They can’t actually do that. It’s against FCC regulations on advertising to children. Ever wonder why you never see MLP toys advertised during the actual show?
