I do but that was me doing that, I don’t know why….
Man, do you have some sort of autocorrect on perhaps? You keep saying “date” instead of “data” XD
Well you can use what you like and think badly of Chrome is you want, but your like of “rewarded for sticking with it” I have to completely disagree with, I started using Firefox back in early 05, it started to act like crap to me just over a year ago, I looked at a lot of browsers when I got sick of Firfox’s freezing and Chrome was the most comfortable so i use that now, and I have a networking degree and had to have a class that covered things like this so i know how to look up things like security problems with browsers sending date like that, Chrome is fine and you can even change some settings to not send a good amount of that date.
I didn’t mean to start all this, I just voiced my concerns. I don’t trust that “very public document”, it might be written in such a way that some will think it’s ‘actually safe’. The only way to check what’s going out is sniffing the data packets.
First of there are ways to find out what date they collect, this talks of it and covers what I have found to be what is collected(), it’s not the most up to date but it’s covers it.
Second “rewarded for sticking with it” so I was punished for sticking with it as long as I had?
If it helps, most people i know that dropped Firefox for Chrome had the problem that after an update it started to crash and/or freeze like craze and even going back and checking it again after more updates it keeps crashing and/or freezeing and Chrome fits the just fine, also collecting date isn’t a bad thing, it’s more what date is collected, and I have looked into it and I don’t see a problem with what it collects.
So why you’re not happy if so many people use Chrome? I don’t get it.
If you don’t think you can trust it, then fine, use Firefox. But it shouldn’t make a difference to you if the others use Chrome.
Or you can always use Chromium (which is open source) or the other derivates like Iron.
My statement is on a developer-centric point of view. And anyway, for everyday navigation Chrome is just fine, and even if Google collects some data I’ve never been bothered with anything.
If Google has a merit with Chrome, is that it shaked the browser market with its frequent updates and early feature support, along with an incredibly fast render and Javascript engine. Seriously, Firefox was stagnating in 2010, until Firefox 4 was finally released.
I’m not THAT happy to see Chrome used that extensively, it’s even used more than Firefox. Don’t people remember what Google had put in the user-license before? About collecting data of what you do on the internet? And they removed just the text, as the data is still collected. I find Firefox to be much more trustworthy. I do use Google for searching, but that’s it - I don’t plan to use their products, which are suspicious to say at least.
(OK, sorry, I’m sure @dt is as hard working too as any but..c’mon! that was harsh.)
How many image sources have you personally tracked down?
My wager is not much, you just like complaining.
Do some work like the rest of us.
Anyway,
That also means I can seach for “artist needed” and “fluttershy” for an image of unknown origin, for example, and not have to shovel through thousands of “fluttershy” images.
No sir, take your bitterness elsewhere. People work hard for no pay on this site.
Uh, sent before finished :|
I was saying, it’s more or less the same thing of a browser extension, since it’s always up to the user to install it.
But anyway, it’s good to hear that it’s going to be completely assimilated into the site one day.
And those about the browsers are pretty nice numbers. Happy to see IE below 10%, oh lawl. (Even if IE 10 is pretty good. But it’s the concept behind it and its updates that sucks.)
I know BORED, I contributed to the development :P
There’s BORED which at some point we want to fully integrate.
And 45% Chrome, 30% FF, 9% IE, 7% Safari, 3% Opera, 3% Android Browser
Sort of… It’s an extension that only a few will install.
But an integrated link, like a “Search this image on Google” beside “Report this image”, would be great.
By the way, what’s the browser distribution of Derpibooru’s visitors? I know you’re collecting that data too… ;)
There is:
Chrome
Firefox
I try to fix it when I can.
But if there’s not source either, it gets difficult.
Yes, you can use Google, but it takes some time. If only there was a button for an instant reverse image search…
When saying “we”, do specify a bit more who “we” is. I spend an inordinate amount of time trying to find artists whenever I spot missing credit and I don’t appreciate being included in this “we”.
you are butthurt man, is not our fault that google image search fails.
