Wouldn’t a better idea in that case be to stay with the team and try to turn it into something significantly better?

Faust left as soon has she learned about what Hasbro was planning for the show and her contract allowed her to go.  
Something like: “What? We are going to.what?? No! Fuck this, i’m out!”
 
That’s what i think. She doesn’t seem to be very happy about her time with Hasbro.

Unlikely. They don’t and never have needed her permission to do anything with their IP. If they wanted to make this before, they would have.
 
Also unlikely that she left because of this. Too much time passed between then and now.

Just guessing here, but I think they pitched it when she was still there, it got rejected then and they tried again after she left, with a shift in staff.

Unlikely. She left just after S2’s writing was finished…IE, early 2011. I don’t think Hasbro had EQG planned that far back, especially seeing as FIM had not shown massive success in early 2011.
