Guess Disney doesn’t want Hasbro to hog all of the princess-drama…

no, but she was cast as the antagonist.
Case in point; every dictator that has ever existed, real or fictional.
If you know you can get away with whatever you’d want to do, you’d take extreme measures against something that even mildly annoyed you.
But really, would a queen really have someone killed just because they are prettier?
Absolute monarchs are by nature, petty.
But, on the other hand, Queens aren’t nearly as petty as Disney portrays them.
Also, Snow White was a princess before she went into hiding, and the one who saved her was ‘Prince Charming’. What was the only kingdom around at the time? Oh, right, the one ruled over by her mother and father.
Well, queens historically haven’t exactly been the most warm people…
@Whatevs
So many princesses are weak until they find their Prince Charming. She found hers and took it. They’re also more even in terms of their relationship than most royal couples.
Cadance is still an example of a good princess. One that shows that just because she is pink doesn’t mean she can’t do shit.
Cadence… Flat? Have you not seen anything beyond the end of Season 2?
Disney forgot that there exists good queens and asshole princesses.
I don’t see why having the male marry into royalty is a step in the right direction.
It would simply mean that Cadence has been a princess even longer and didn’t have to charm a man who could easily look her over.
The story of Cinderella would not be better if Cinderella were already a princess.
Also, bringing up a flat character like Cadence is rather silly.
That, and their less-than-kind interpretation of queens. Really, in Disney movies, the queen is almost always evil, and when she’s not, she’s stubborn, obstructive, repressive and barely knows even her own children.
This always bugs me.
I guess little girls are not into the brave individual character.
Nothing is wrong with princesses. The problem is presenting a single, sole image of what a “princess” can be. Merida was a great break away because she pined only to save her mother, not for Prince Charming. Disney was selling the appearance well before, don’t get why they can’t now.
For as much as people disliked Cadance for being pink, she was the one who rescued her husband, not the other way around. Just the fact that the male married into royalty instead of the female is a step ahead. Again, I think all Equestrian princesses are great examples of independence, dedication, and boldness. Their qualities transcend gender lines as well.
This might be a PR nightmare for Disney.
Save for Twilight, that is true.
So Disney making Merida a princess is a like and complete bullshit…
I wish.
But she was interesting because she didn’t have all the little baubles the other ones did.
Also, she has the dubious honor of being the oldest chronologically, but the youngest in representation.
