I don’t care how ‘good’ the characters, worldbuilding, etc is, that’s far too much time wasted on a single show. I would think that such benefits could be condensed into a much shorter series (and, at least from what I have heard, Netflix did a pretty good job condensing One Piece).
If a story’s worldbuilding, characters, and etc are entertaining enough it won’t feel like that much of a chore to get through.
In other words, a full calendar year watching one show.

By adding unnecessary padding so that the show doesn’t overtake the manga. But this isn’t an issue for early One Piece and happens way way later during the show’s run.
I watched the 1st Season of OPLA and I’ll say the Live-Action series is pretty good and a decent entry for anyone who is unfamiliar with One Piece. The only issues with it I have are some writing choices, the pacing (we were supposed to get 10 episodes originally but got 8 instead), and a few characters get the short end of the stick with their character arcs. But other than that, it’s not bad and certainly no Live-Action Bebop or DBE.
Lots and lots and lots of filler, lol. I think there are even websites dedicated to showing the ‘important’ episodes to the central plot of the story so that you can avoid the filler, lol.
That way nopony will be able to hold until the last episode LOL

That’s why most fans recommend reading the manga since it’s much faster and better paced. Though the anime has its merits too and does some things better than the manga.
Now I’m an adult with a job, PlaySation 5 is a thing, and they still haven’t found that treasure!
Anime franchises rose and fell, and One Piece is still going and going.
