I think Opaline’s love for Misty could be her path to redemption, who knows, her father could forgive her for foalnapping Misty in the first place, Misty could still be alive thanks to Opaline.

Then what if Brightdawn is indeed her family name, which she somehow unconsciously remembered in that moment, but it was her mother’s last name, and in the unicorn’s case family names are inherited maternally?🤔

Misty came up with the Brightdawn last name on her own, when she was put on the spot before the sleepover. Apparently, if she had a last name before, she didn’t know or had forgotten, or had been made to forget it. Anyway, if last names were important, Sunny Starscout would be Sunny Starshine. Sprout and Phyllis sharing the same last name seems to be the exception, not the rule.

It actually makes sense, and it was even hinted for a while, but sure, you need to pay some attention while watching the episodes and the movie to notice those.
Other than that, Misty deserves to be happy and finally get all the parental love and affection.

If Alpha is Misty’s father, her name should be something else, but Misty Brightdawn is her official name. That’s why it doesn’t make sense. Misty deserves love, but equally, Opaline shouldn’t be alone.
