I got a couple car batteries wired through the house, supplying DC to a bunch of USB ports built into the wall.
They’re giving standard USB dc, not whatever the wall power is.
In my case 30 amp 120v for the regular sockets, I only got 3600 watt.
Yeah I’ve had phone batteries heat up, bad cords too.

Not the way anything valuable is stored.
It’s also harder to take out everyones power than that. Most people in florida have generators and big batteries/uninterupted power supplies. You only need 10-15 watts to charge many devices like phones.
My house has a big battery with USB ports on the wall that go to it, and I have a USP for my computer, and a regulator. Surge is only going to trip the 10$ thing my regulator is plugged into, the regulator trips itself outside a certain voltage range. Work data is stored in RAID configuration, and copied to phone.
Except… chargers are rated only for 1amp
Va = 15 and voltage is typically 5vdc
A = 3amps
No wonder cell phone chargers cause fires.

I was literally reading a book on the train home about 10 minutes ago.
Not everybody quite yet wants to consign physical books to the scrapheap of history - some of us prefer them to reading literally everything on computer screens. (Yes, I realise the irony of saying that in a comment on a website, but the point stands. Books are old-fashioned, but not yet obsolete…and tbqh I doubt they ever fully will be)
