Actually, that’s a common misconception, the Princesses’ response is that Equestria had never seen the birth of an Alicorn, so it either means that there hadn’t been a naturally born Alicorn since the founding of Equestria, as far as the Princesses knew, which would make sense considering they both predate Equestria, and might not have been in touch with Skyros after leaving, or else it would mean that it was the first time that an Alicorn was born, rather than ascended, in Equestria itself - both of which make sense based on the established lore

And Twilight, Candice, and Sunny are the only known ascended Alicorns, not counting Cozy.

Exactly, people saying that a pony being born an Alicorn contradicts G4’s lore obviously don’t know G4’s lore as well as they insist
Someone hasn’t read the journal of the two sisters. I forgot where, but an alicorn civilization was played around with for a long while.
